JEJU ISLAND IN 1979 WAS BARREN LAND, COVERED ONLY IN ROCKS AND WHIPPED BY WILD WINDS FROM THE SURROUNDING OCEAN. IN THE BEGINNING, IT WAS NO-MAN’S-LAND EVEN BY LOCAL STANDARDS.

USING MODERN TECHNOLOGY TO MAXIMIZE ALL ASPECTS OF THE ISLAND’S NATURAL RESOURCES AT EVERY STEP IN THE CULTIVATION PROCESS, OSULLOC HAS ESTABLISHED A HIGH STANDARD FOR QUALITY AND SERVICE.

OSULLOC OWNS THREE TEA FARMS ON JEJU ISLAND. EACH FARM HAS UNIQUE GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND PRODUCES DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEA.

OUR ESTATES ARE BLESSED WITH 5 NATURAL ELEMENTS: SUN, WIND, WATER, SOIL, AND FOG. THESE NATURAL RESOURCES ARE THE KEYS TO OUR SUCCESS IN PRODUCING HIGH-QUALITY TEA PRODUCTS.

CALLED “ISLAND OF THE GODS” BY THE LOCAL PEOPLE, OVAL-SHAPED JEJU ISLAND IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH OF THE KOREAN PENINSULA. IT WAS FORMED APPROXIMATELY 2 MILLION YEARS AGO WHEN AN UNDERWATER VOLCANO ERUPTED.

IN 2007, VOLCANIC JEJU ISLAND, WITH ITS ICONIC LAVA TUBES, WAS RECOGNIZED AS A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE DUE TO ITS UNIQUE FEATURES.

AT THE CENTER OF THE ISLAND, KOREA’S TALLEST MOUNTAIN—HALLASAN MOUNTAIN—OVERSEES THE TEA FARMS. THE UNIQUE SCENERY CHANGES WITH EVERY SEASON.

IN RECENT YEARS, JEJU ISLAND HAS BECOME A HIGHLY DESIRED RESORT DESTINATION BECAUSE IT RECEIVES WARM SUNLIGHT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

THE ISLAND IS HOME TO MORE THAN 2,000 PLANT SPECIES. THIS ECOSYSTEM, ALONG WITH JEJU ISLAND’S DISTINCTIVE VOLCANIC FEATURES, SUPPORTS OUR GEOLOGICALLY UNIQUE TEA FARMS AND CONTRIBUTES TO THE VARIOUS AROMAS AND TASTES OF OUR FINE TEAS.

WATER

AVERAGE ANNUAL PRECIPITATION OF 1,800 MM PROVIDES OUR TEA FARMS WITH CLEAN WATER FILTERED BY VOLCANIC SOIL.

FOG

SEA FOG OCCURS AN AVERAGE OF 25 DAYS PER YEAR, PROVIDING NATURAL SHADE THAT ENRICHES THE TASTE AND COLOR OF OUR TEA LEAVES.

SOIL

OUR SOIL HAS A MAXIMUM POROSITY OF 75%, A QUALITY THAT EXISTS ONLY ON JEJU ISLAND. THE SOIL PROVIDES A FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT DUE TO ITS EXCELLENT ABILITY TO CONTROL MOISTURE.

SUN

JEJU ISLAND IS KNOWN FOR ITS WARM WEATHER. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE IS 16℃/60℉, WHICH IS IDEAL FOR PREMIUM GREEN TEA FARMS.

WIND

THE STRONG ISLAND BREEZE BLOWS FROM THE SOUTH AT 4 – 7M / SEC. THIS BREEZE
ENRICHES THE AROMA OF OUR GREEN TEA BY ENHANCING THE ROOTS’ WATER UPTAKE.

SEOGWANG

THE SITE OF KOREA’S representative TEA FARM WAS ONCE BARREN AND ROCKY, BUT IT IS NOW A LUSH FARM WITH A VIEW OF BOTH SANBANGSAN MOUNTAIN AND HALLASAN MOUNTAIN,
WHICH PROVIDES PERFECT SHADE AND MIST FOR OUR PREMIUM TEAS.
THIS IS THE AREA WHERE KIM JEONG-HUI, KNOWN AS CHUSA—A HIGHLY CELEBRATED 19TH CENTURY SCHOLAR AND CALLIGRAPHY PRACTITIONER—SPENT HIS TIME IN EXILE GROWING TEA PLANTS.

DOLSONGI

THIS TEA FARM EPITOMIZES OSULLOC’S DETERMINATION TO TRANSFORM BARREN LAND INTO A FERTILE TEA FARM.
IT IS LOCATED IN THE ISLAND’S SOUTHCENTRAL REGION, WHERE SALTY MOUNTAIN BREEZES BLOW EVERY APRIL, CARRYING THE REMAINING SNOW FROM HALLASAN MOUNTAIN.
THIS BREEZE PERFECTS THE AROMA OF OUR GREEN TEAS.

HANNAM

THE SUN RISES EARLIER AT OUR HANNAM FARM THAN IT DOES ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE ISLAND.
THE STEADY SUNLIGHT, WARM BREEZE, AND BLACK SOIL FOUND AT THIS FIELD ARE KEY TO GROWING OUR PREMIUM TEAS.
IN ADDITION, THE TREES ARE YOUNG HERE SO THEY
CONTAIN HIGH AMINO ACID LEVELS, ENHANCING THE TASTE OF OUR TEAS.
